Over 1,100 World Trade Center victims still remain missing. That’s 40% of all lives lost, including members of the FDNY like Christian Regenhard, pictured here.
Unidentified remains are kept in a repository 70’ underground within the 9/11 Memorial Museum, owned by a private non-profit, and require a ticket from $22-$85 for non-family members to enter and pay respects.
Families of those lost on 9/11 were never told that their loved ones would be a programming element in a private museum.
For those families without recoveries, the repository for the unidentified remains at Ground Zero is immensely important and sacred. They have no cemetery to visit.
